Snake 22 of 49
I REACT to snake 21. Give me brightness, give me definition! Yup, time for bright red. I’ve been working on a project for Shell Oil Company, looking at their red and yellow logo for weeks. So, this is a red and yellow. Time to return to the blue central zig zag, the importance of the project needs to be reaffirmed, very overtly. I’m going off to Bulgaria, want to finish this. I take time off to finish number 21, and wind up bringing this one to Bulgaria to finish it there.
So, on the plane to Bulgaria, I decide to finish the necklace. The snake hides in my pack, waiting for us to be alone to finish the head. It just bothered me that it might remain incomplete while I was away. Eventually I steal time to decide on and then do the head, and it’s totally the right thing. I want it to be used to lead a dance line in Bulgaria as its welcome to the world. Perfect, a Macedonian friend of mine uses it to lead the line with zurnas in the dusk in the Macedonian village of K’rlanovo. Then the wonderful dance teacher from Sandansko. Good energy. Totally appropriate. It turns out that the colors make it very appealing to Macedonians. It’s those folk bright colors, clear definition to the pattern. Probably they unconsciously recognize the blue zig zag (it’s their tradition, after all) and of course a beaded thing to lead the line with is perfectly clear. Interesting to me, they all double the snake, holding the head and tail in their hand, and waving the resultant loop.
